Job Description

 
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for dealing with escalations from the systems engineers on the more difficult issues around Server, Networking, Office 365 and Azure. Based out of Chennai, you will also be responsible for remote support to the global FE offices.
 
With excellent communication skills, they should be able to walk customers through problems, helping remotely when required for a variety of software and hardware issues. They should also be able to escalate farther to the next tier in seniority, if required.
 
This position involves shift work, as we operate three shifts to cover the hours of 6am to 11pm IST.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1.  Diagnosing and solving escalated hardware/software/network faults.
  2.  Responsible for Advanced Server administration.     
  3. Responsible for Advanced Network administration, including cisco, FortiGate and Unifi devices.
  4. Responsible for monitoring of alert systems, logging and resolving issues when required.
  5. Assisting with infrastructure upgrades & change control of infrastructure.
  6. Advanced management of office 365 and related technology.
  7. Adherence to ITIL standards and best practices in Incident and Problem management.
  8. Logging user incidents and queries.
  9. Triaging logged tickets.
  10. Analysing call logs to spot trends and underlying issues.
  11. Asking targeted questions to diagnose and resolve issues.
  12. Following up with customers, to ensure problem is resolved.
  13. Escalation point for calls Operations engineers struggle with.
  14. Escalation point for pager duty rota.
  15. Managing escalations, ensuring SLA breaches do not occur.
  16. Documenting any new installation, or solutions found.
  17. Ensuring calls remain within defined KPI's. 

Key Technical Skills
  1. Advanced knowledge of networking and services in the Microsoft environment (Windows 10, Office 365 and Windows Server 2008/R2/12/R2/2016).
  2. Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  3. Excellent Knowledge of Server Administration on Windows 2008/R2/12/R2/2016, DHCP, DFS, Printing, Active Directory etc.
  4. Experience of working with monitoring tools, particularly PRTG and System Centre Operations Manager.
  5. Troubleshoot and solve complex problems from initial discovery to resolution, without any repeat occurrences.
  6.  CCNA or MCSA certification required. Preferably both.
  7. Experience in scripting and automating tasks via PowerShell..

Beneficial Technical Skills
  1. Knowledge of ITIL, ISMS will be an added advantage. ITIL Foundation certification is beneficial.
  2. Experience with Microsoft Azure and related technology.
  3. Experience with Ivanti.
